Clics Fire Brigade

The red car kept my 3-year-old son glued to the computer screen for a long time, and then me. We spent a long time trying to figure out which of the 3 Clics Fire Brigade sets would be better for the younger generation. Clics made several versions of sets with firefighters and police. Small sets in cardboard boxes with simpler models (8 options in each set) – fire and police cars, boats, airplanes.

By the way, these sets also have an unique part – an insert with a proppeler. And each set contains flashing lights! The larger and more complex sets come in round buckets, and have large wheels. With the large sets you can build not only vehicles, but also fire stations and police stations. And another unique thing are sets in boxes, which themselves are made from mega-Clics parts about 12 inches long. It’s not entirely clear if you can dismantle these large boxes into pieces, but the idea looks interesting to me. We are very happy about any unusual Clics sets, since we love Clics, we have been playing it for many years. It always in demand among children, but Clics has not had any new ideas recently.

Feeding The Dinosaurs

We also got some K’Nex dinosaurs. But dinosaurs from mini K’Nex like the ones Jane has didn’t fit us. These models fall apart when my kids play with them. But our set is original K’Nex – Dinosaurs 20+Model Building set. It has a very variable (according to the children) thing – the screamer. It works by some logic no one but this thing can understand and sometimes makes scary dinosaur roar. Does Loz have something like this?

Clics Robo Racers

Clics Robo Racers are sets with robots. There 3 different colors – the sets come in red, yellow and blue. We liked the red one the most – both the robot and the car. The sets include large and small wheels, rounded parts, pipes, and stickers. An excellent set for boys aged 5-12, and my girls would also like to try out these cute robots and play racing with their little brother.

ClicsToys is a Belgian company that was established in 2001. It makes the well-known Clics building blocks in its own factory in Kempen. Clics building sets have square pieces of identical form and shape. They easily connect at their edges, creating joints you can move.
With These plastic squares, you can create surfaces and fold them into 3D shapes. There are endless possibilities, even though Clics have very few extra pieces and accessories. Some sets have wheels and decorative panels, but this is pretty much it. On the other hand, Clics sets usually have many pieces, so you can create something truly complicated from just one set.
Since the basic pieces of Clics are squares, all the basic forms you can assemble from it are cubic or brick-like. However, thanks to the movable joints, you can assemble them at different angles, creating different shapes.
There are ways to create triangular or sloping figures if you assemble the pieces just right. The cubes, however, are the most sturdy and reliable structures this set can offer. There are also a possibility of creating a flat mosaic, combining the pieces of different colors.

Clics Castle

A yellow Clics castle we made with Willy. It has a bridge ove the lake and a flowery lawn around it.

ClicsToys is a Belgian company with roots dating back to its establishment in 2001. They are recognized for their production of Clics building blocks, which are manufactured in their own factory located in Kempen, Belgium. Clics building sets consist of square pieces, all of which share the same form and shape. These squares easily connect at their edges, forming movable joints.

Since the fundamental building blocks of Clics are squares, the primary structures you can assemble tend to be cubic or brick-like in nature. Nevertheless, thanks to the movable joints, you have the ability to connect them at various angles, resulting in diverse shapes. With careful assembly, it’s even possible to create triangular or sloping figures. However, the cubes remain the sturdiest and most reliable structures that this set can offer. Additionally, you have the option to craft flat mosaics by combining pieces of different colors.

These plastic squares enable you to construct flat surfaces and transform them into three-dimensional shapes. Despite having few additional pieces and accessories, Clics offer limitless creative possibilities. Some sets include wheels and decorative panels, but these are the primary extras available. However, Clics sets typically contain a substantial number of pieces, allowing you to create intricate designs using just one set.

Evening Basket With Cherries

In the evening, already getting ready for sleep and making their way from cartoons to bed, my daughters, 6 and 8 years old, came across a box with gear set from Unika on the way. As a result, they made a dozen different scenes and objects. I posted the most interesting ones (in their opinion) here.

These gears are a version of a popular type of building set. The gears in this one are not rotating on top of some structure – they are the basic building blocks of the set. The gears connect if you interlock the pins, or if you stack them. With these simple connections, you can build different shapes and mosaics.

All the gears have the same shape and size, the only difference is the color. However, there are still many possibilities to build, especially if you have many pieces. The gears can also interlock if you connect them at an angle. Sadly, the possibilities to build a moving toy are very limited, because the gears can’t really move once they connect. There are also no extra pieces or decorations, so the gears are the only things you have to work with.

The gears themselves are rather big, they are safe for the small children to play with. They also can hold together even in a very big craft without falling apart.
