The truck does not have side walls, there are only a platform. Using a special retractable ramp, you can roll on it a car from the same set, or any other car. The body sits on a magnetic rod quite steadily.

SmartMax Start XL has long and short rods in it, along with metal balls, but no curved rods.

You can load anything into the car’s body. Afonya (1.5 years old) loaded rather heavy stones in here, and the vehicle moved quietly, did not roll over, everything was holding up.

The magnets in this set are strong. Here, we placed several rods vertically, and they hold perfectly, without slipping. So we can lift the tower by the top and move it around.

This set is relatively big for Smartmax with its 42 pieces. Unlike the XXL set, it has no plastic box you can use in building, and no curved rods like in Discovery set. But it still is a good options for smaller kids, with big pieces that are easy to grip and hard to swallow.

SmartMax has blossomed…. Flowers and roof pieces have been released to compliment the previously released sets with rods and balls: Flower Palace, Flower Power and Flower Fun. So you can build a large Flower City.

Magtastik pieces are on the left (ball diameter 2.5 in, rod length 3.15 and 4.5 in) and SmartMax pieces are on the right (ball diameter 1.7 in, rod length 2.8 and 4.7 in).
