Another possible craft from the smallest Magformers Basic set. It takes almost all pieces in the set to build.
Category: MAGFORMERS – magnetic frames
Magformers, a highly popular magnetic construction toy, consists of plastic frames in various shapes like squares and triangles. These frames are equipped with magnets along the edges, allowing for easy assembly and disassembly. With Magformers, you can build a wide range of 2D and 3D figures. Some kits even include additional accessories like wheels. These user-friendly toys are suitable for kids as young as 3 years old and promote STEM education while encouraging creativity.
Small Magformers Basic Set
This is smallest of the Magformers Basic sets – it has only 14 pieces, and only squares and triangles. However, this is enough to build many different things or enhance some set you already have. It is a good starter set just to try out Magformers. It may also be handy as a travel option, since it’s entertaining and takes little space when stacked.
Magformers (Mag-Wisdom) – Cones, Super-Arches And Super-Sectors
Picture is an illustration of the Chinese Mag-Wisdom constructors. I didn’t even have time to be upset about not being able to buy these sets right away. Pretty soon I found out that you can buy them in 12 pcs sets. We are waiting for ours to arrive.
Another Magformers Chinese Clone – Magic Piece
We soon will be able to make an encyclopedia of Magformers clones – Magsmarters, Ginimag, Magic Piece, Mag-Wisdom, and, finally PowerClix by Guidecraft. The latter, although considered American, is still made in China. We checked out the first 2 clones – 100% match in quality and magnetic properties. Magic Piece is very similar to Ginimag. We liked PowerClix because of its magnetic sticks. In Mag-Wisdom, I personally liked the multi-page colorful mathematics album-manual, which I later found on Magformers site – you can download it and use it in a game with a building kit, pretty much like albums for Dienes blocks.
Magsmarters – Magformers Clone Found In Italy
It is very similiar to Magformers in all regards. The kit we found have 30 square and triangle pieces.
Magformers Light – Illuminated Magnetic Building
A radar in green tones…
Not so long ago Magformers with illumination appeared on the toy market. Usually they offer a set of 55 parts, which, in addition to triangles and squares, includes 6 white pyramids. But I unexpectedly came across a set of 48 transparent parts – triangles, high isosceles triangles, squares, small rectangles and diamonds. It is lighted by an LED enclosed under a matte case on a square magnetic piece – you can attach it to the craft any way you like. There are several lighting modes – first, the variable one, which changes color like a Christmas decoration in 2 modes, fast and slow. Then there are modes with only one color at a time – red, yellow, piercing yellow, greenish, blue, pink, and neutral white. The LED charges very quickly from a computer via a USB port. Full charge is enough for one busy construction evening.
The reaction of children to the backlight is difficult to describe – they liked it very much. I had to take take turns giving the LED piece to children. With it, crafts come to life, rockets and cars are illuminated, houses with luminous windows are very cozy.
Magformers Light – Magnetic Construction With Light
So we just switched it to pink… It actually glows pretty bright.
Ginimag – Korean Magformers
Example of cars you can make from the Ginimag Car kit.
Ginimag Car – Korean Magformers
There are 8 large wheels, large rectangles, squares, triangles, semicircles – 68 parts in total. The set also contains red plastic cylinders, white connectors for them and gears, which, in my opinion, are somewhat out of place in this magnetic constructor. Besides, they are extremely similiar to the parts from the Klikko constructor, which suggests the Chinese origin of the Ginimag constructor . We have no complaints about magnetic parts, but the wheel connections leave much to be desired – they break. And that’s it, you can throw the wheel out. Red cylinders and gears did not impress children, they are put in a separate bag and are used very rarely. We simply mixed the rest of the Ginimag parts with the original Magformers ones and use them together in buildings – for example, in the illustrations for the Crow and the Fox below.
Magformers Math 87 Pieces
The biggest of educational Magformers sets. It has many pieces of different types, including uncommon ones, to show kid how geometry works on practice.
